The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) has excellent Bus Operator positions immediately available. Become part of the integral force in the economic success of the Philadelphia region by helping to provide an efficient and reliable source of transportation.

We are seeking candidates for the position of Bus/Light Rail Operator, City/Suburban (2200/2100) and Light Rail Operator in City and Suburban Transit that have a desire to serve the public and invest in your future and grow within the company.

Successful candidates will drive vehicles over specified routes or to specified destinations according to time schedules, complying with traffic regulations while ensuring that passengers have a safe ride. Operators will have a guaranteed 40 hours a week.

Salary: Starting salary is determined by the division you are located at. You can be assigned to either the City or Suburban Transit Division. Current pay ranges from $25.17 to a maximum hourly pay of $34.91 per hour after 4 years of service.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years licensed driving experience.
  • No suspensions and not more than one moving violation in the last 3 years.
  • Valid driver’s license with no driving with a suspended/revoked license over the past 5 years.
  • Ability to successfully complete employment interview, employment history verification and criminal background check, medical examination including drug screening.
  • Ability to work various shifts, weekends, holidays, split days off, especially during first several years of employment.
  • Required to be available for all shifts including weekends.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

CDL Permit / CDL License Requirements:

If offered the position after interview, candidates will be required to possess either a Class B or Class A Commercial License (CDL) with a Passenger endorsement with no restrictions for driving vehicles with Air Brakes, or obtain a CDL Class B Permit, no later than 2 weeks before your tentative start date. SEPTA will train and test you to obtain your CDL license during training.
